Napoli has just sacked their manager Carlo ancellotti less than 3 hours after guiding them to the round of 16 in the Champions league.
He did defeated Genk 4:0 at him in their last game to come second just one point behind Liverpool.
But that wasn’t enough for the Italian as he was showed the back door
It was really sad because after the match he did have a press conference saying Napoli will find it’s rhythm again and bounce back.
Little did he know that the sack letter has been signed before the match against Genk.
Napoli has been having some bad time on and off the pitch.
Before yesterday’s victory, they haven’t won in all 9 games previously played.
And it’s not too good for a team that came second in the serie A last season.
But the real reason of the sack was a high profile dispute between club president and manager ancellotti with the players.
Napoli’s president wanted to team to attend a one-week long training but the manager and players Decided to go home and they missed it.
And sure he was angry.
Conclusion:
Sure not a good way to part with a world class coach (but November/December is the season of sackings).
Ancellotti’s Napoli is the only team to defeat high flying Liverpool this season in September when they won 2:0 at Naples.
Ancellotti’s records still speak for him as one the 3 coaches to win the Champions league thrice(a record josé Mourinho is dying to break).
We wish him the best as he looks for the next challenge in his life.
