“If you ever sign Pep Guardiola to coach real Madrid football club, then I will leave the club”. — Sergio Ramos.
Expect this statement to grace all tne tabloids the next day the rumors of Madrid signing a Guardiola.
As hilarious as it sounds, there’s an element of truth in it and in football, everything is possible.
As a Catalunya-born tactician, he will always prefer to coach Barcelona F.C.
He also hinted that after his tour to all the best European clubs (which he is doing with style)…
He would come back and coach Barcelona again, but this time in La Masia academy; he wants to finish what Legendary Johann Cruyff started.
But should he get to real Madrid and be signed by Florentino Perez as a coach..
Then expect some fireworks at the Santiago bernabeu.
And as the richest club in the world, they should be ready to droll out money for Pep to spend and upgrade this dying and aging squad.
Tiki-taka in Madrid:
This will be one of the greatest test of coach Pep Guardiola in Madrid.
Will he change the attacking fast pace style of Madrid to the possessional and occasional boring tiki-taka?
Will he make Thibaut Courtois and other Madrid goalkeepers to pass tbe ball to the next defender with their legs instead of throwing long balls to the midfield with their hands( ask Joe Hart why he left Manchester City)?
Pep would bring a radical change to the squad. Sergio Ramos, Luca Modric,Karim Benzema and all above 30 years old players would either be shipped out to other teams or get limited playing time.
He would sign young and promising defenders; he would resign Van Dijk and bring him to the Spanish capital.
The attacking players might be relatively unknown stars who would fit into his philosophy instead of the Neymar, Mbappe or even Hazard.
Conclusion:
If he can succeed in Barca, Bayern Munich and Manchester city…
Then Madrid with all their money should even be the easiest place for him to make unparallel and uncommon success.
Pep Guardiola is a winner anytime, anywhere.
